Charles Davis : Ingia!

Charles Davis featuring;
Louis Davis with Louis Hayes and Company.
Ingia!

Strata East. SES7425. Recorded 15th July 1974, Minot Studios.

Re-upped and re-posted by request.
This tasty little number was originally contributed over at El Reza's place. However, that top blogspot has been closed for a while now, so it's high time this was back out there on the net. If you're a regular over at the Strata East Fan Club, you'll know there's just one missing for the full running flush ... We just need that M'Boom nugget to complete the set.

Carmen Lundy : Time is Love (2 Versions)

Carmen Lundy ; 4 x Sweetness

Time for some more top tunes from the Lundy family. There's two different versions of
the all time killer track Time is Love. One is the version conversion from Quasimode, the
other is taken from the album Good Morning Kiss. There's two more tracks lifted from that album that need a listen. Quiet Times and Love for Sale.

Highly recommended.

Mahmoud Ahmed : Etu Gela

Mahmoud Ahmed : Etu Gela.
Been playing this in the car on and off all day today.
Long time favourite of mine with one of the heaviest basslines ever.
Killer afro-beat.

Curtis Lundy

Curtis Lundy
One track taken from; Just be Yourself. 1985
Was moving some boxes around today and found this cd. There's one killer track on there which, if you've never heard it before is a must. Carmen Lundy puts in a great vocal performance over Curtis's heavy bassline. This one's a real honey.
Highly recommended.

Ernie Krivda and Friends

Ernie Krivda and Friends
Satanic.

Just had to promote this contribution from Igor to a full blown post, if only to highlight the eye-watering cover!. I've never seen or heard of this one before, and it's definitely worthy of a few listens.

1: Song for the Moon
2: The Piper
3: Three-legged Dance
4: Magic Music Box
5: Munchkin
6: La Festival

Highly recommended, many thanks again Igor.

Joe Torres : Latino con Soul

The Explosive new band of Joe Torres.
Latino con Soul.

World Pacific WPS-21857. Recorded in Los Angeles, 1966.

Yet another consequence of "that" shopping spree, another Bacoso top tip!
The whole thing is a total banger from start to finish.
All killer, no filler, blah blah blah ... you know the score by now.

makes you wanna spit . . .

Ronnie Cuber

The Eleventh Day of Aquarius
Recorded 31st January 1979, Studio B, Rca, New York. Xanadu 156.

Ronnie Cuber : Baritone sax
Tom Harrell : Trumpet and Flugelhorn
Mickey Tucker : Piano
Dennis Irwin : Bass
Eddie Gladden : Drums

There i was, minding my own business, "have you heard this one .. ?" 10 minutes later, i'm at the counter parting with some hard-earned.
Warning; record hunting with Bacoso can be hugely addictive, the guy's got far to much knowledge.

As you would expect, this has turned out to be an awesome record, and i'm very grateful for being pointed in it's direction by the man himself.

Jazz Patterns ... pt2

Finally.

It's taken a bit longer than i expected due to a busy week, but here is the second part of Jazz Patterns. The first instalment appears to have gone down really well, and thank you for all the comments.

There are 2 tracks here, firstly, an extended version of Invitation (there is an alternative version on the "In pursuit of blackness" album) Also, there is a killer version of Lofty, highly recommended.

Joe Henderson and Woody Shaw. Jazz Patterns

Joe Henderson Quintet live at the Lighthouse.
Part 2. Everest Records. FS 363

Recorded live at the Lighthouse Cafe, Hermosa Beach, California. September 1970.

Hidden behind this truly awful cover is, in effect additional material from the 3 recordings made on the 24th, 25th and 26th September. Therefore, you've got George Cables, Ron McClure, Lenny White and Tony Waters lending a hand to Henderson and Shaw.

There's 3 tracks, Invitation, Lofty and What's Mine is Yours. The last track is a retitled version of Power to the People, which as you know, is one of Henderson's best. And this is the one in the comments. The other 2 tracks are just as good, and should get posted soon.

Jameel Moondoc Quintet

Nostalgia in Times Square 1985.
Another example of tasteful generosity from Igor that needs to be highlighted.
The cover is pushing the boundaries of taste, but don't let that put you off.
Great music once again, thanks Igor.
